About Me

Who am I?

My name is Richard Bezemer, I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with my wife, two boys, and our cat. I grew up on a small farm in rural Manitoba where there wasn’t much to do so I passed a lot of time teaching myself Basic and C++. I’ve always had an interest in game programming, especially graphics, and cut my game programming teeth on Grant Smith’s VGA mode 13h tutorials. Ahh… those were the days. I finally made it off to Brandon University and acquired my Computer Science Degree. Since then I spent over 5 years working in a variety of coding roles at SMART Technologies, writing innovative whiteboarding technology in C++ and Flash. I was a key member of the team that created the Flash Ink Aware Development Kit ( pdf writeup ). I consider myself an expert in C++ cross platform development and ActionScript coding.

I’m currently working as contract software developer for piria, doing some interesting work with Flex and website development. You can read about my current project here.

Why Another Technology Blog?

Why not? I like to blog to keep my thoughts straight on my current projects and document interesting technologies I have worked with. If I write something that even helps one person I think my blog is successful.

Questions?

Feel free to email me. I’m quite happy to entertain questions or provide a copy of my resume.
